It sais on the game page of dosbox that biomenace is fully supported, but in fact it's completely unplayable. You can start up biomenace and start playing, but it crashes very soon.
Here are some of the messages it gave while crashing.
Here it crashed and dosbox closed while playing level one of bmenace1.exe
CONFIG: Using default settings. Create a configfile to change them ALSA lib seq_hw.c:455:(snd_seq_hw_open) open /dev/snd/seq fai […]
CONFIG: Using default settings. Create a configfile to change them
ALSA lib seq_hw.c:455:(snd_seq_hw_open) open /dev/snd/seq failed: No such file or directory
ALSA:Can't open sequencer
MIDI:Opened device:none
Exit to error: CPU:GRP5:Illegal Call 7
Here it hanged in an infinite loop and dindn't respond anymore:
CONFIG: Using default settings. Create a configfile to change them ALSA lib seq_hw.c:455:(snd_seq_hw_open) open /dev/snd/seq fai […]
CONFIG: Using default settings. Create a configfile to change them
ALSA lib seq_hw.c:455:(snd_seq_hw_open) open /dev/snd/seq failed: No such file or directory
ALSA:Can't open sequencer
MIDI:Opened device:none
The crash happened only once, but the hanging happens all the time, no matter what level I play (I can go to other levels than level 1 by loading my old savegames).
BTW All the ALSA and MIDI errors seem to be no problem because I hear sound, music, and so on.
So it's a real shame that bmenace isn't supported so well.
Wolfenstein 3D works perfectly.
My specs:
Dosbox 0.63
Archlinux, running in KDE
the bmenace I tried is bmenace1 (the shareware episode)
