Is there a way to play dos games(with dosbox)online?

is there a way to play dos games like Warcraft online? Like with some kind of modem emulator? i'd
like to play some old dos games on multiplayer just to see what created mmo games.. plus i like the dos the
games are tiny and can be compressed to kilobytes ha! i barely know anything about how the internet/modems
work i tried to get on the internet on this game called "doom 2" but it said something about calling and
ipx setup so i just exited.

Getting online is one thing. Finding a player willing to play with you and having properly patched versions on both sides is an entirely different matter.

Check out my site:

I'm currently supporting 88 games. Including the 2 you mentioned. The site takes care of the details of getting a game going so it is fairly simple to play. But of course you need others to play with as well which is the hard part. Trying to aggregate retro gamers to one place on the Internet is like herding cats.

frammis4242, I'll play Doom2 with you on DOSBox if you want. Setting it up isn't that hard and I'll guide you through it.

I've been trying to set up Doom 2 for point to point and have gotten it to work pretty well. The only problem I'm having is saving a game over the IPX connection and then loading it again later (playing with same friend). Can this be done, and if so, how? Any help would be appreciated.

While you can save your game in doom 2 in multiplayer mode you cannot reload it. The game just does not work that way. Also if you are trying to play peer-to-peer the person acting as the sever has to forward UDP the port being used through their firewall. The default port is 213.

That's why I created the CGA site so you could play using a dedicated sever and not have to worry about the networking technicalities. Although it's good to learn them.

Thanks for the info. Dedicated servers sound good.

Hello guy's,
IN Windows 95 is the hardest windows. There are 16bit platform so we cannot use those games in it. But luckily for us, Windows 3.1 games usually come with a little brother in DOS based viersion of the game and then we can use it with DOSBox.......
