DOOM 1.1 on IPXNET runs too fast

Postby vorob » 2018-2-08 @ 07:57

I've connected two pc's via ipxnet in dosbox and everyting works fine, but Doom runs too fast: https://youtu.be/5jGA-g961xc

While singleplayer works at normal speed.

Tried to tune cycles, but it doesn't help much.

Tried DOOM 2 and it worked fine, maybe its not a dosbox issue, but a doom 1.1 problem... Trying 1.2

DooM 1.1 has absolutely terrible networking code.

That said I think it'd work with a locked cycle count... I've run it with Qemu although it's hard to say just how unplayable it was as it was just me.

Doom 1.1 is retro? Psshh, amateur. You shouldn't play anything newer than Alpha v0.3.

1.1 was pretty bad but it did allow 3 screen setup

1.2 broke this, but cant think of any other reason to use 1.1
