Hi There.

I'm struggling with Networking on Dosbox inside Win 98.

What I want to achieve: Running Win95/98 based Games inside a PORTABLE Dosbox with Multiplayer
What I got so far: Win98 running with SLIRP and Port-Forwarding.

PCAP is not an option, since its not really portable and doesnt support WIFI Adapters.

So, I'm currently trying to get Airline Tycoon Multiplayer to work.
I know it can be done under Win11 but thats not the challenge here.

With SLIRP it failes, because it relies on DirectPlay which, whyever, always uses a random Source Port between 40000-70000...
I cant forward that many ports (Dosbox gets extremely slow).

So... TCP/IP seems to be no option for that game. Without some kind of tunneling or somthing.

2 Questions:

1. Is there a possibility to Tunnel 2 Dosbox Instances over SLIRP / TCP/IP with Port-Forwarding?
Maybe some kind of VPN Thingy...

2. Is it possible to use the Build-In IPXTunnel with Windows98 as guest?
It works well on DOS, but doesnt work at all on Win98.

3. Any other solution?

Edit: Serial Connection works for 2 Players, but I need support for 3+ Players.

Greetings,
R4

Official dosbox doesn't support 9x games.
Official DOSBox doesn't support winpcap or SLIRP. You'll need to ask for help from the people that made your DOSBox fork.
If you are using DOSBOX-X and for some reason don't want to post at their site (which is the best way to get support) then post here: DOSBox-X branch
For any other fork you'll have to setup a dedicated thread for that fork.
