Hello,
since a few weeks i own an Dell Dimension XPS R450 Tower with an Intel Pentium III 500 MHz SLOT 1 processor.
Yesterday i had a realy bad idea. i installed the latest bios which dell released for this modell. also stupid, i had not saved the old BIOS into a file.
Now the system halt at the BIOS Screen and tells me that i installed a Pentium III CPU instead of an Pentium II and the system wont boot any further.

When i installed my old Pentium II 300 MHz the System boots up normally.

So i realy need an old BIOS File for my System. Because it is an DELL Branded Mainboard i found no Bios Files on the Internet 🙁
I'm lookung for all BIOS Files before the last release A13

I Hope someone here has a system from the same modell line.

Greetings

Kai

Ohhh... the Dell FTP archive from 2001 does not have anything for XPSR but A13 but did find the older ones A09, A11 and A12 here:

I Successfully DL'd all for future posting from the April 20, 2006 (20060420055052) archive.
Not sure if you can downgrade your BIOS but it worth a shot. According to this you want A12:
Be sure to scan the file with an AV before trying to flash !
Good luck !

Hello Horun,
thank you so much !
i also used the archive.org wayback function. But i missed the right Website. i tried every Update from the site you told me. And finally, with the A11 Update i'm able to use my PIII 500 CPU again on this system. Thats all i want.

its funny, only the A11 Update are marked by my Windows 11 Defender because it contains a virus. But it seems to be a fals positive. i extracted the file on an virtual Machine with an behavior Software. But it seems not suspicous. So i think it was an falls positive from the windows defender.

maybee i will try another, faster, Slot 1 Processor in the future.

so again, thank you very much for your help 😀

Glad you got it. I read on a tech site someone with your same issue but he used A12 to get his P3 450 working again.
Forgot to make sure the URL was proper, won't work without the last astrick 😀
