I’ve got two motherboards I’d like to try to repair.

The first is a Fuyu 20V0 with an embedded AMD 386 DX-40.

I’ll remove whatever is socketed and then use a soft toothbrush to give a surface level clean with white vinegar. I’ll follow the vinegar with 99% isopropyl alcohol.

Next I’ll place the board in an ultrasonic cleaner with distilled water. After that I’ll desolder whatever looks damaged and go from there.

Is this a good starting procedure?

The other board I’ve got is a Socket 7 SD-P5TA. It has green stuff on it, but I’ve got no idea where it came from. Nothing looks wrong with the battery holder.

This one looks painful as there are a bunch of surface mounted resisters. Two are so corroded I can’t tell their values.

🤣 looks like a cricket or micro mouse parts caused it. Had a mid tower a mouse climbed thru an open ISA slot in back and pee-poo all over the side of the board....
corroded it badly... funny now but not back then...

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun

Hope the fuyu isn't an f.yu .... I <3 those mini 386 boards... before mp3 players, it did cross my mind to build one into the dash of a car to play mods

Unicorn herding operations are proceeding, but all the totes of hens teeth and barrels of rocking horse poop give them plenty of hiding spots.

That must be it. I found the board in a plastic bag in the shed.

I realized today that my two 86 computers would also have batteries in them, so I rushed down to check. A tower with a Faraday FE2010A chip had a leaking battery, but it doesn't seem to have reached the board. It does have corrosion on an ISA and co-processor slot though. The board seems to have some kind of finish of the PCB. It looks like it would be really nice to work with.

I also have a portable suitcase 86 but haven't check it yet. I haven't previously had any luck taking it apart.
