I got a Panasonic floppy drive that spins up and turns on but the computer does not seem to like it. The computer flashes an error 40 on startup and the read indictator on the drive is constantly on. The cable I have looks fine and windows can see the drive but not use it. The cable seems to have an extra 2 pins on each side and only one side of it fits into the drive while the other in the motherboard. Any info helps. Thanks!

The cable was upside down. Apparently the cable goes in two ways.

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun
