I've been looking at pictures of the Asus P5A-B, and I noticed that in some images I saw on google, the board in the photo had all the headers filled in, including a mystery chip. What should be there?

Higher resolution image (http://hw-museum.cz/mb/26/asus-p5a-b) reveals it is CMI8330 audio chip. The 26 pin header probably connects to another small board with the ports and other components.

Onboard sound chip. Look at the typical audio connectors for CD-ROM audio etc.
As fragmentfi said there must be some slot-bracket with all the Spkr., Mic, Gamport connectors.

The P5A-A was also available with onboard sound...

It would be cool to figure out if there is a pci card that we could order that had all the required components and we could just transplant them.

There's a header just above the CMI chip for a slot bracket that had game, mic, line out and speaker out.

IIRC it was pretty crappy audio and you're better off just disabling it and plugging in a SB Live, YMF72x/74x, or ISA sound card.

It's not difficult, it's actually quite simple. The problem is that 8330 is not very good. If there was at least one sound blaser that had the same pinout, then it would be worth it.

There are very few cards (that I know of) that have a quality audio chip, or a nice onboard video card.

The other day I saw a slot 1 card that had a Matrox MGA onboard, I think I'll buy it because I thought it was cool

I got this P5-a mainly because of the AGP slot. It was very difficult to find (in my country) an AT card with agp slot. I have a voodoo banshee that I would like to use in my 233mhz rig, but unfortunately the 3dfx is AGP.

I also got this unknown board, which I assume is some variation of pc chips, or low end brand of low quality. I bought this one just to resell it. From the pictures I assume she has a cmi8330 "sound pro"

Correct. That bottom ISA slot looks like it's a bit damaged. Hopefully it works!

Looks like it's just 3 contacts that need straightening

Btw the P5A-A onboard sound version came with a "ESS Solo-1" chip.
There are PCI-cards with this chip that have all the additional capacitors etc.
