Hiya anyone that can help , I've got a bit of a setup in the works involving a DB25 switcher and some LPT sound cards.
And I was just wondering if my setup would be feasible or not.

So I've got the printer port and audio cable bits figured out.
But the main issue is supplying power , so since both LPT devices need to be powered by a USB mini A type cable and my pentium motherboard only has 2 usb ports and I want to keep one for transferring stuff via USB, I was wondering if I could this?

So USB mini A would go into the LPT device and the regular A side to the USB switcher ,

which uses USB type B so id use a converter to hook it in ,

then a usb A to usb A would go from the switchers out to the PCs usb port to power it.

I figured id ask cause there was stuff i saw on the web about usb power only being able to go in a single direction and I don't want to blow anything up.

Hmmm, that looks like a 2 machines to one USB peripheral switcher. Not sure it's gonna work that way... I'd just plug them both into a powered hub or use a 2 port wall wart.

Unicorn herding operations are proceeding, but all the totes of hens teeth and barrels of rocking horse poop give them plenty of hiding spots.

Damn I was worried it might not work , I don't really have any free outlets left on my power strip so I was trying to find another solution , I'm guessing a non powered hub wouldn't work on a socket 7 motherboard?

Hmm you could try one of the following: 3 or 4 Port USB Wall Charger ($10) or a 3 way AC add-on ( maybe only $4) to add to your surge strip (since the little wall warts won't pull much of a load.
just a thought 😀

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun

you dont need usb hub just to share 5V power. You dont need usb at all to power your 5V devices, plug into one of the MOLEX connectors on the psu inside the computer.
