Is there anything like this: https://www.silverstonetek.com/en/legacy/info … essories/mfp51/

The attachment download.jpg is no longer available

That works over a serial port w/ Dos or Win95 ?

Like maybe something with a 2.4" oled or something ?

I remember LED bars that attached to LPT port.
Was kind of popular in the Quick Basic and Visual Basic 3 days.
By ~2000, monochrome LC displays were also getting popular.
Their software was written in Visual Basic 5/6, I think.

Those look pretty interesting., especially these: https://www.crystalfontz.com/c/serial-lcd-dis … rface/rs232/115

They come with this:

Not sure what to do with the buttons.

Maybe it will be my 2024 retro project.

Most of those modules are aimed at vendors doing small runs of custom infrastructure appliance boxes.
Peter Brockie has years of teardowns of this kind of equipment, over 100 videos by now. Here a box using something with very similar keypad https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G5_U4QmSeys&l … uQHrP&index=108

No specifically bay sized, but loads of character LCD modules are addressable simply via serial.

Look on eBay of 'backpack LCD serial' and you should find lots of 16x2, 20x2 and 24x2 modules.

With most of them you just squirt text down the serial interface and it displays. Often there are special codes to make the module clear, change character mode etc, but they are effectively just tiny little serial terminals.
