I have some a USB->26 pin floppy adaptor pulled from an old USB external floppy; I am trying to use the adaptor with a standard 34 pin floppy drive and I can't seem to figure out how to wire the 26->34 pin adaptor. I have tried using some old off-the-shelf adaptors from servers. With those adaptors I have only gotten the adaptor to work in one direction (I can plug a 26 floppy drive into a 34 pin header on the motherboard through one of the adaptors but not the other way around.)
Whenever I try using the adaptor, the drive itself will spin up and the activity light will go on, but the computer will always give "disk format not recognised" errors, with some other USB->FDC adaptors, it will just say "please insert disk into drive" and not even attempt to read the disk in the drive.

I have looked at the pinouts for both the 34 pin (https://old.pinouts.ru/HD/InternalDisk_pinout.shtml), and the 26 pin (https://old.pinouts.ru/HD/26pin_microfloppy_pinout.shtml) floppy headers and cannot really find any issues with the wiring of adaptor I am using.

My only guess is that the issues have something to do with pins 8, 9, or 13 of the 26 pin header which I can't seem to find a clear analogue to on the 34 pin header, and their function is not well documented.

Has anybody ever been able to successfully wire an adaptor like this (and/or get it working with a USB->FDC adaptor) and does anybody know more info about what the purpose of the READY, MEDIA, and REVERSE pins of the 26 pin floppy cable are for and what to do with them (since they are all unconnected on the adaptor board that I have)

Hi

Looking how to use USB UF001F adapter who allows using floppy disk via usb connector, I have just found this topic.
Expect the info to be useful for you on :

https://jestineyong.com/examining-and-testing … to-usb-adapter/

The reason why I had bought this usb adapter is because I have one slim 3.5" floppy drive and it looks my floppy drive is bad, even changing the inside belt to new one.

Anyway, hope above link helps.
There is another one like:
