So I bought cheap model 30 286.
Machine has no hard disk, and of course the disk drive does not work.
Is there a way to run setup program from xt-ide?
I'm going to recap the disk drive and see if that fixes it, but it will take some time for parts to arrive.
Meanwhile I could hook up gotek to machine... I think.

I was able to mod a standard floppy drive to work with the model 30 286. The exact modifications needed will depend on the drive being used, but the idea is always the same. I can try to see what references I used if you are unable to find a guide. It's not just a matter of switching some wires around.

For enter setup you can press something like F1 at boot (or without drive is disable?).
Xt-ide work out of the box with this computer, insert the card in the ISA slot, insert the Compact flash with DOS already installed and thats it.

Thanks for your replys.

Got the gotek hooked up.

Now I need to modify some memory... 512k isn't enough.

Thankfully previous owner has tried to install regular 9 chip 1M modules. I just need to modify them... Hopefully modules are working.

:edit. Got the memory modified... 🤣 chips were 256k each, well 1Mb for 286 is plenty.
