The module you are after looks similar to this here

https://www.ebay.com/itm/256385754547?

This is the ATI 4Mb SGRAM module, no idea if itll work in your GX2 but it might, finding the S3 version is a bitch and its usually either listed as a Compaq or HP part as they made a ton of S3 GX2 cards.

This is Leadtek Winfast S680 (S3 Virge/GX2), with 2MB onboard, you need that 2MB memory module to upgrade to 4MB.

I have spent hours hunting down the 2Mb module on a few occasions and they are pretty hard to find on Evil Bay, Do you happen to know the exact name of the module or some unique identifier one could use for searching. Zuldan like myself is in Australia so finding retro parts is difficult at the best of times so Evil Bay is the quickest source of parts.

I know Compaq and HP made 2Mb modules for the GX2 but they were pretty rare even back in the day and usually had a different setup with two socket type connectors.

I bought this for an onboard mb SO-DIMM slot for a Matrox G100 2MB SGRAM - Samsung KMM966G256BQN-G8 2MB Sgram Graphic Video Memory Board 125MHz/8ns - worked just fine to give me 4MB

One of the real uses that I see with 4 MB on S3 ViRGE cards is to run the desktop at 1024x768x24. 😀

That won't fit in either of the GX2s that have been posted in this thread - I have the PCI variant (along with a ATI 4MB SGRAM module for my Rage Pro cards) and you need a single-sided SGRAM module, as there isn't enough clearance for the back side.

Physically it should fit, but I don't have a single-sided SGRAM stick so I can't confirm whether it'd actually work. I'm not paying that price for one.

I own a Winfast S680 with the module. Do you need photos of it?
