I have this ancient PC Magazine CD edition from 1995. The one and only issue I bought. It was an interesting idea for them to try. Basically it has articles on it and "multimedia" like some video reviews.

Video reviews of archaic DOS machines. Excited now? 🤣

Well I put them on Youtube. One is about the hotness of 120 and 133 MHz Pentium desktops/towers and the other is about the wicked 486 and low-clock Pentium notebooks of the day. DOS gamer euphoria, indeed. And I get all tickled looking at those prices. Oh the good 'ol days!

And yeah that Thinkpad 755CD is so mine as soon as one pops up on eBay. $7,000 of ex-amazingfulness and wavetable audio! Well, maybe I'm happy with DOSBOX actually... Wonder if that's an OPL4 or what.

Heh. I forgot all about Mwave (aside from the retailer with the same name). Well I imagine that it's not the best solution for DOS gaming then.

I wonder if any notebooks ever had an AWE integrated. I guess that's doubtful though considering how many chips it took to make one. That's why I was thinking OPL4. I'm not sure I know of any other wavetable options in those old machines. The notebooks I used back then all had ESS audio of some sort.

Yes. I have both an 755 and a 760. MWave blows. There are some 760s with ESS chips in them, though.
