I have just made some odd observation. When using a classic Tseng ET4000AX, warlord2 music plays normally during load. When using an S3 VLB card (miroCRYSTAL 8S) the music hangs/pauses briefly, when a new screen is loaded or build up. It does not matter if FM or DB is selected. The music does not interrupt, it merely holds its tone for perhaps 0.25 seconds, then plays on. Removing the IRQ2 setting on the S3 does not help.

Is this effect known? Is there a solution other than using the Tseng?

warlords2 or deluxe? The former is palettized vga and maybe on screen
transitions they're using some non-interruptable palette changing on the s3 card.

Warlords2 non-deluxe.

For the time being, the Tseng is back.

I mentioned that in my initial posting: Yes it does, and no, changing the jumper doesn't help.

Could be a badly coded video BIOS routine that runs a while with interrupts off.
