How much did you pay for the Yamaha SW1000XG?
And is Aztech Sound Galaxy NX Pro IDE ISA any good?

$160 + $20 shipping to the US.

The Aztech Sound Galaxy NX Pro is a good alternative to the Sound Blaster/Sound Blaster Pro. It's got OPL3 (YMF262-M) + great compatibility (Adlib, Sound Blaster, Sound Blaster Pro, Disney Sound Source & Covox). They are generally better shielded and less noisy than the sound blaster cards. I think it was originally from Germany if I'm not mistaken...??

I ask because i am selling one boxed with cables and stuff for 100e 😁
Also thanks for info about Aztech. Saw one on the flea market.

Nice! BTW - still enjoying your GUS MAX!

Picked a XFX 5770 that was missing the fan and shroud, also got an on the spot job offer 😀 (customer support)

Not bad for only $16 and change...

Found a pair of M6082's, locally with the power-brick and it's ridiculously large barrel plug. And they still play well; not rotted out like my other set.

w38p.jpg

Edit: I gently pressed on the suspension of one of the drivers in this new set, and I can tell it is in fact rotten, but I decided not to tear it. I'm playing them, right now and they sound okay, but I don't want to push them. Oh well, another rebuild. 😉

My mate just found this for me, at the scrap yard...

It's a Behringer Eurorack MX 802A. Needs a power supply and some cleaning, but other than that I can't see anything wrong with it.

Sound Blaster 16 CT1780 w/good DSP and CSP chip. I was the only bid.

I thought for SURE someone else would have bid too. 😐

Cool! 😀 I do not keep an eye out for CTs older than SB Pro. There are way too many different revisions.

ASP / CSP is cool but pretty useless. I have a CT2230 & CT2290 with ASP / CSP.

A dead 7800 GS AGP. Not sure what is wrong with it but the fan works (as stated on Ebay). Might just need a capacitor, for $7 shipped why not.

I found a Number Nine Revolution IV 32mb AGP card for a reasonable price. This is the card made especially for the SGI 1600SW and it is hard to find these cards cheaply. Now nothing stands in the way of getting a 1600SW as soon as one comes along cheaply enough and doesn't cost $100 to ship.

If anything else a quick reflow will help but for $7 that is a great deal.

Yesterday I thought I'd purchased a 1770 with a socketed ASP chip but got a call today from someone who works for the seller telling me that they didn't actually have that card in stock.. 😒

I've been scooping up inexpensive CT17XX cards on ebay hoping to find a DSP revision without the hanging note bug without much success. However, I was able to explain to the guy on the phone about the DSP revision version I wanted; he said he would check his inventory and get back to me.

Well, when I got a call back he'd dug through three boxes of cards and found not one but TWO v4.05 DSP boards for me. We negotiated a deal and I've not got them en route.

I'm finding that even some of the bug-free "CT" numbers listed on the vogons wiki are coming with the newer DSPs (4.11/4.13) which make finding the right board difficult. I'm so glad to be done with this.

Fricken finally! 😵

Awesome! I have a CT2230 and CT2290 with ASP/DSP with > 4.05. Lately I am thinking that a RAP-10 or SCC-1 suffices for GM when playing games. I am not sure any games use GS. I also find that not using a DB but a dedicated Roland principal card has really clear quality output.

I have an SCC-1 for those games that need it but generally I prefer the sound of my DB50XG; so I need a working waveblaster header. The system I've been building for some time is mATX so I don't have any extra slots to spare to run just the midi.

I got a photo from the seller today. This is it. My baby. SB 16 w/ASP and v4.05 DSP!

As testament to the frustration I've had locating one of these, I have in my hands another CT1790 but with an empty ASP socket and a v4.11 DSP. 😒

One thing I am VERY interested in looking at is whether or not the traces are the same on this older DSP compared to my other CT1790 with the newer DSP. If the traces are the same then it may indeed be possible to transplant the DSP to a newer Sound Blaster!

Hehehe and when I am done it make damn good garlic bread 🤣
It can reflow the higher temp solder that is used on newer cards but haven't gone that far yet.

No reflow station here, card came in but have not done much with it.

Anyway I did purchase some 11 year old speakers (vintage enough) and hope to get them in next week.

Was looking on ebay for Videologic and that came up so I snagged it for $40 shipped in their original box. Vintage surround sound speakers.
