The system:
-PIII-600 Katmai
-Asus P3B-F 1.04 with 1 ISA
-256mb Micron SDRAM (PC133 CL2) in one module
-3dfx Voodoo 3 3500
Currently I have CT4810 PCI and AWE64 CT4520 ISA. I'd like to replace them with Vortex 2 SQ2500 for Windows games and YMF719 ISA for DOS. The reason is ability to use A3D and less CPU usage comparing to ISA cards for Vortex, and SB16 compatibility with true OPL3 for YMF719.
1. What do you think about such choice? What are the alternatives?
2. Is SQ2500 the latest Vortex 2 card available? AFAIK MX300 and others use earlier revision of AU8830 chip, which leads to higher CPU utilization.
3. Are there any YMF719 cards with onboard wavetable synthesizer, such as YMF278 or YMF704?
4. Should I bother with A3D support at all? Does it worth using second sound card?
