Phil, guys at Phantom.sannata.ru suggest Landmark Speed Test v6.00 and two other benchmarks: http://www.dcee.net/Files/Utils/test.arj, http://www.dcee.net/Files/Utils/vvs2.zip. Some say they would run the test suit on their 286 if they could 😀

And thank you, 18x wasn't there before, so I thought, it was still out of the list.

Kixs, found this for your OPTi motherboard: http://museum.ttrk.ee/th99/m/U-Z/31693.htm

Are we... done? Has the interest to this project faded to zero? Will we never get our #300 result?

I think the database needs to be more easier to read to get some new interest.

Almost all of the columns can be shrunk to increase readability. What is important is the CPU type, speed, FPS results and VGA card along with motherboard brand/name/chipset. All that info should be viewable without sideways scrolling in a normal 1920x1080 resolution monitor (which I believe most of us are using)

+1, I can't even view Bios settings at 1366x768 and 1280x1024 :\

I still have a couple of systems to add when I get them out of the cupboard - I don't have them all out at once. I think this thread should be stickied so new members see it when they join and add to it over the years - if it's not visible then it will be forgotten.

I'll add my system to this if I can get get my VLB controller card working.
Your list doesn't seem to have a Tseng W32P on it. I hope to fix that.

This is getting ridiculous. I just hit 361 realtics on my Katmai 550.

After a few weeks I'm adding two systems - 486DX4-100 on VLB (to see how VLB compares to PCI) and P-166MMX on 430VX chipset - will be great to compare to other superior SS7 boards.

I'll add more when I find the time.

3dbench2 is also not the tool to measure performance on the 486slc2 machine I am testing... when the internal 1kb L1 cache is disabled I get 21.4fps , with the 1kb enabled (that REALLY improves performance) I get 11.2fps... it's still buggy :\ (buy comparison with PCPBench: 1kb=OFF 1.1fps / 1kb=ON 3.3fps with IBM's onboard sloooow vga)

IMHO 3dbench needs to go , maybe find a pseudo-3d game with benchmark like Roadhog or something similar

I played around with one broken 386DX-40 board. The cache has to be disabled to work. Benchmark results are quite funny. I expected preformance to be like some 386SX-33/40, but no... it's way slower, around 386DX-20 with Turbo. With Turbo OFF its like 286-8MHz.

I'm replying to your post because 3DBench gives the same weird results. So I tested with 3DBench V1.0c and V1.0.

3DBench V1.0c:

Turbo ON (40MHz) = 8.1
Turbo OFF (16MHz) = 9.9

3DBench V1.0:
Turbo ON = 8.1
Turbo OFF = 2.6

So in your case I would test it with V1.0.

More results are in the spreadsheet.

I have a couple systems I'm planning on trying this on and possibly adding to the list soon.

AM 5x86 486 @ 133 Mhz (Kingston TurboChip) with 12ns external cache. (with PARADISE 1MB VLB Video)

AMD K6-II+/550 @ 660 Mhz, on FIC VA-503+ board with 4ns external cache. (3 levels of cache would be interesting to see how it ranks up)

AMD AthlonXP Palomino @ 1.87 Ghz with Voodoo3 AGP card & PC-150 ram.

LGA775 system with AMD HD4890's & 6MB wolfdale dual core @ 4.5 ghz.

and I might try it on my i7-980x @ 4.6 ghz with ddr3-2400 for giggles, see if it can take the top spot in the OC section maybe.

I don't know when I'll get to it, maybe in the next few weeks.

But I am interested in contributing.

EDIT: Got the Core2Duo in there. It seems the C2D chips are almost the fastest for these old dos VGA games? That's pretty interesting to find out! My big i7 is horridly slower at these tests in comparison.

posted the results from my PII,
I'm also trying fastvid, but while it gives a huge performance boost (like 2x on the first test) it's adding some graphical problems when I enable Banked VGA write combining (random small horizontal lines)

Phil, could you please extend the calculation range? We've got 286 benchmarks and reached the limit 😀

i thought we most of us are (already) and accepted it too.

aside, already did the exporting. but expert opinions will be a lot helpful in identifying the influencing factors(apart from the obvious) and derive a pattern out of it.
