I've given up on finding the demo for this game.

It used to be available on the internet on FTP sites, but has vanished.

Filenames were either pvdemo.exe or pvdemo.zip. Filesize 5.9 MB. Release date January 1998.

Hotgames (Archive.org) download links (none works): https://web.archive.org/web/20000229075153/ht … ve/download.htm

Does anyone have this demo laying around on a disc?

When I asked half a year ago he said he didn't have it any longer. Dunno if he was telling the truth or not. Now he has contact block on.

ps ive asked someone who works for Imagination Technologies if he has it
waiting for a reply

Cheers 😀

I still have my old PC PowerPlay magazine cover CDs from late 97 to sometime in 99. They were in love with PowerVR and I think they had Purevex on one of the CDs. I remember it because I tried to play it with a voodoo card installed not understanding PowerVR is different and getting frustrated with it not working. I will dig the CDs out of storage and see if I can find it

It would be awesome if you could check those CDs 😀

Great work!

Can't recompress it to 5.9MB, hope it's the same thing.

Looks like a fun arcade-style game, can't wait to see vetz's video capture...

Checked all my discs this morning (didn't read that it was already found) and the only one unaccounted for between PCPP 17 and 50 is 22. No wonder I couldn't find it. I've downloaded it and will give it a go on my Matrox m3D when I have some time. At least I jogged someones memory who had it I guess.

Ya know, in theory that could mean that it's currently on Internet Archive, they've been gathering a massive coverdisc collection and still have a ways to go. If I knew which month/year issue 22 was, perhaps I could determine whether they did or not. ... if they had a decent search engine, they'd be dangerous... 😉

Issue 22 is march 1998
it has battlezone on the cover

the slip for the cd has quake 2 on it (major software on the cd was q2 test)

Scratch that idea, the "PowerPlay" collection they have is some German magazine, not your Australian one.

The actual demo probably is somewhere lost in the Archive though. Thanks anyways.

But big thanks, again, uploading the PureVex demo. 😀

WOW! I had few expectations that it would actually show up! Thank you so much! 😁

I just tested the demo and it does work, even on a Midas3 card. As Stilletto have pointed out, it is smaller in size than the one found online, but I dunno what have been excluded or not. Anyway, it is working, which is the important thing 😀

Thought you had everything to do with PowerVR.

Ahhh... that's an inside joke I didn't get:
Where i can find HeXen II: Continent of Blackmarsh?

Damn, that guy spammed the Internet. Seems he's still looking for 1.08 maybe (if it exists), though 1.10 was found...

So I tried that, but it runs in some DirectX mode? And only code is the small exe, hum.
