Anyone have any experience using a card like this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-Port-USB-2-0-2-Port … =item27e14b7f10

In a AT Socket 4 & 5 boards without PS/2 ports? I don't expect the USB ports to work, but the ebay auction claims that it works without drivers, which I guess refers to the PS/2 ports.

Willing to be proved wrong but I'm pretty sure that will only work in Windows. "No drivers" may refer to the necessary drivers being included with Windows.

Have one. It requires the USB 2.0 drivers from the OS. Those PS/2 ports are converted USB ports.

It is just a USB card with an internal USB to PS/2
I am sure it will work on socket 4 & 5 boards (it should work on any PCI board - even socket 3)
but it will require Win98+ to work

It would probably work in older OSes on a modern board that the BIOS has USB support but obviously not Socket 4/5

Ya, I wondered this myself, glad you asked the question. I looked at a similar one on eBay and I thought that it was too good to be true and didn't want to risk it. But of course it is a handy device to have if you have the slot for it on a more modern Motherboard that doesn't have PS/2 ports like some ASUS and Intel P45 and X48 boards I have.
