I just acquired a SC-55 off of ebay. It has the 2.00 rom like the GM compliant models, but doesn't have a GM logo on the front.
Not sure how to test if this is GM compliant or not. I am new to the synth world. Sorry for the poor quality of the photo.

hm, I'll check my "GM logo" MK1 and report the version, my guess is that you have a "GM SC-55" maybe with an altered plastic piece at the front

yep, my "GM logo" SC-55 is "ver 2.00 - '92 - 03/09 - 12:39 - 208200203" , basically the same as SMUAggie's unit.
So either someone changed the faccia to fix a damaged unit or Roland just used cases from some leftover old stock (more unlikely)
