Yeah I am sure R300 based cards at that (great) time were surely clocked high but I still remember how much they ruled the moment in every games and aspects. Also NV30 first version was clocked quiet higher then ever.. 😊

Regarding the Mystique I agree that actually I didn't get to run any known big game without texture problems, not to talk about the S3 Trio3D.... But considering that in those years to find a card that didn't have any visual artifacts was quiet difficult.

what do you think was the best video cards in the PCI/AGP years that actually speed up the most Windows 9x/Me/.. on the usual 2D 'windows' usage? I am not only talking about ramdac speed and vga analog converters quality but also the acceleration itself that the os would benefit.

I really had some great feelings using the Matrox G200/G400 but only if we compare to the older cards.

When do you think these advantages were not visible anymore?

Number Nine cards were known for their fast GUI acceleration in the days of WIndows 3.x/95, but they're even starting to climb in price now.
