I am wondering about cooling one of the original Pentium chips. Will a Socket7 type cooler mount properly? Or will I have to use Thermal Adhesive to put a heatsink on it?

Socket 4 is larger than Socket 7 so adhesive will be needed most likely.

Personally I would glue on a decent Socket A cooler, my system had a heatsink on of around 2.5in and it still got hot very quickly - hot to me is anything over 45'C

Edit: Wondering if Socket 8 coolers will fit. They might, I will try and find my spare one and test if it fits.

Cool thank you! It should be easy enough to pick up a Socket 8 cooler if it does indeed work. Have a couple of Socket 370 Golden Orbs that would do the job real nice if it comes down to adhesive 😀

Turns out those are too long for the socket unfortunately, though the width is about right.

Looks like you'll need adhesive and one of those 370 coolers unless anyone else comes up with something.

Got two Socket 4 rigs myself, just glue a cheap socket A/370 cooler on at the corners leaving the area in the middle for thermal compound. Do not run it passive as it will eventually heat up enough to cook meat.

Ok, just finished up straightening a bunch of cpu pins on my p60. Does anybody know the proper orientation of the CPU for the Batman's Revenge motherboard? or is there only one way for it to go in and I have it correct?

If it is like any other socket 4 board there is a key pin on the inside of the array at the top right (from the perspective of looking at the bottom of the cpu with the text on the bottom being oriented to where it is readable).
