I've been buying AGP cards lately. Will post pictures when they arrive. The funny part is that I don even have enough systems to use them, but I like to have options, and now I'll have plenty of them for my future P3 and Duron systems.
I have bought:

  • Quadro4 980 AGP
  • Radeon HD4650 AGP (for my Athlon 64)
  • Voodoo3 AGP
  • Matrox G550 AGP
  • S3 Virge PCI

Yes, very likely. Tried with my Athlon XP 3200+ machine, and the voltage readings are much improved. Around 4.7 - 4.8 under full load.

That makes sense, since even if the late AXP's had the P4 plug, they were still 5v heavy.

The 5v heavy design was kept until 848P,but I might be wrong. Anything newer than P4 onwards though, was and still is 12v heavy.

What I don't understand is, why color coding is different while both are ATX power supplies (although apparently different ATX revisions).

+12V : Yellow vs. Yellow/Black
P.G. : Gray vs. Orange
P.S. on : Green vs. Gray
5V sb : Purple vs. Orange

Messed up sticker?

Likely they had their own color coding back in the ATX12V 1.3 days, and when the 2.2 came, they swithced to the regular design. Beats me as to why they coded the second 12V rail with Yellow/Black.

Bought this kinda odd looking Mitsumi two button PS/2 mouse today for 50 cents, had to clean it up a bit but it works great. 🤣

Had one of those as my main mouse. From 1995 to 1999.
It's a nice one and is the exact same design as an Amiga-1200 mouse.
(with small variations... Okay... Not exact then 😁 )

Don't eat stuff off a 15 year old never cleaned cpu cooler.

Oh that's cool! It is nice indeed feels pretty sturdy but it's a little undersized for my hands. 🤣 I prefer mice to be a bit bigger and blockier.

That is why I eventually bought an Microsoft Intellimouse 3.0a, wich served me until it died in 2003/04.
And I have bought a new mouse ever since, with that particular shape and size. It was awesomme.

Got a few items 😀

From my "recycling" project at work. Unreal that such hardware is considered obsolete...

I think it's a Phenom II X4! AM3 board with DDR3 😀

I have had great experience with Netgear cards in anything from 98 to xp and even Windows 7 I think. Kinda like 3com cards in a way, they just work and work great! That quad core Phenom II is better then what I was using in 2012 as a mainstream gaming machine and would make a kickass main pc for someone/ backup pc for yourself if you have need of one 😀 the 880 chipset (if that is what the Gigabyte board is) is an amazing am3 and even lowend am3+ chipset. Have fun with that one! I would advise at least something along the lines of an HD7790 to pair with that system. I was gaming at 1024x768 at 60fps + with an Athlon II x2 250 and HD7750 on my 990fx machine. There should not be a big performance difference between the 990fx and 880. Good times btw.

Main pc: Asus ROG 17. R9 5900HX, RTX 3070m, 16gb ddr4 3200, 1tb NVME.
Retro PC: Soyo P4S Dragon, 3gb ddr 266, 120gb Maxtor, Geforce Fx 5950 Ultra, SB Live! 5.1

Cool! Had very good runs with 3Com. Got a few Realtek PCI Gigabit cards, and they give me issues. So will try these Netgear.

The board has North Bridge: AMD 880G and South Bridge. Yes can't wait to see what other treasures the recycling project brings. I've spotted some other machines that look like AM2 gear with Athlon X2 processors and DDR2. Also more Core 2 Duo stuff, but older than the E4500 gear I got yesterday.

Are those kind of bags good enough to store the cards?
I can't seem to find antistatic bags around, but I do find those ones on the supermarket 😀

No they're not!
They are horrible and probably will fry them.
Don't use regular plastic bags to store your cards!
Also: Google "eevblog and anti static bag" it'll show you why it's not good.

Memory modules and video cards are often sold in hard plastic without any antistatic bags these days.

Saying that you will probably fry the cards when packaging them in regular plastic bags is like saying you will probably be hit by lightning when taking refuge under a tree during a thunder storm...

Not taking refuge under a tree during a thunder storm is of course better but if its raining...

All I can say to this, is that my neighbour, AKA The Hoarder, has everything stored in these bags. I often go to his place and help myself for a NIC or graphics card and he hasn't had any issues yet.

You can get anti static bag on eBay, but these are see-through, making things a little bit easier. They are also easy to source and stock up. They also fit hard drives well. Just a bit of protection when you stack them.

Anyway, I'll update the thread in 40 years, if I'm still around 🤣

Hmm actually, I Googled it (should have done that before buying) and it's not an AWE32 but a Sound Blaster 32. Ah well...

Does the same apply to the pink anti-static bubble bags? I like them 🙁

Hoarding = not good 😀

Hoarding is awesome, as long as you are not hoarding cats in a small apartment. 😜

I got the box with 60 random Intel CPUs today.

No Coppermine PIII 533 or PIII 650/866 for my benching project 😒 but a Celeron 633 and a Celeron 700 which were also missing in my collection. Now the only Coppermine Celeron multiplier missing in the benchmark project is the 8x so I need to find a Celeron 533A or 800 which shouldnt be that hard as I own a 533A... I just cant seem to find it.

I thought all the socket 478 CPUs would be Willamette Celerons with bent pins but there were loads of Northwood P4 2.4, 2,6 and 2.8 in the box, mostly with no bent pins... and some Willamette Celerons with bent pins 😁

The best CPU in the lot was this socket 423 Willamette P4 1.3 GHz, the most awesome performer of all Netburst CPUs !!!
ThemostawesomeCPUint.jpg

I would have paid the 6 euro for the P4 1.3 alone 😁, I see the rest of the CPUs as a bonus.

This evening a friend came to my place and dropped this whole lot of goodies they were throwing away at his workplace, in exchange for helping him out with a modern PC:

What surprised me the most is that one of the AT PSUs is really, really heavy. It's a 400W monster! I've never seen such a powerful AT PSU! 😳
