I picked up a paradise EGA card from Ebay.

I was inspecting it when I noticed it seemed to have a lot of very large glass diodes on it.

I took a closer look and these weird glass diodes actually appear to be surface-mount capacitors suspended in a glass package for mounting through-hole.

Maybe this is actually a common thing but it's the first time I've ever noticed it.
