A quick question: the hanging notes bug on an AWE32/SB32 does affect the integrated EMU8000 synthesizer, doesn't it?

What do you mean by affect?

My AWE32 has the bug (I've experienced it before, really annoying) and it's never damaged it, or caused any ill effect. I just powered down and back on the machine and it worked fine.

No my understanding is that it's just the MPU-401 that is impacted by the hanging note bug, not the EMU8000 synthesizer.

The MPU-401 interface for the EMU synth is not provided by the CL DSP, it's emulated with a TSR. The DSP and it's firmware is what causes the bug, so the EMU isn't touched.

Thanks, this is exactly the answer I was hoping for.
