I'd been using it for since 2015 I believe.

Turned on my computer this morning and it was frozen at the log on screen. This computer never freezes.

Later on that day went to boot a VM and noticed the drive was missing. Did the usual troubleshooting then removed it and tried a USB adapter. Nothing.

Sigh. Time to see if how the Samsung warranty process goes.

I keep the VMs backed up regularly and I had just copied off all the build folders for the VS guide I'm working for DOSBox so no loss of data except for windows updates.

Ouch. At least you didn't lose a Windows installation. 🤣

I have a cheap Kingston 120GB Hyper X Fury for my OS and 1-2 HDD intensive games. Had it about 2 years now. I wonder how long she will last. I might only read/write 1-3GBs a day so hopefully she'll be good for a long while. My 1TB HDD a few months ago started to not copy or read files, and just being shite. I moved it do a different SATA port and all had been fine. I was worried because ALL my data is on that sucker. Ran some HDD tests and the drive is OK.

Can you pull SMART values from it, when booting from a linux live CD?
