^Mega points for sticking with AMD all those years. I jumped ship when my 6400+ was stuttering like crazy in S.T.A.L.K.E.R and Crysis with a brand new and expensive 8800GTX, and AMD's quad core parts kept getting delayed.

A lot of you guys are crazy, buying a new CPU ever year or sometimes 2-3 times a year. Crazy crazy. This is my list:

1995 - Intel Pentium P54C 100MHz (came with the Packard Bell system with Windows 95)
1999 - Intel Pentium II 350MHz (Windows 98)
2002 - AMD Athlon XP 1800+ 1.53GHz "Palomino" (first Window XP system)
2005 - Intel Pentium M 2.1GHz (came with my Dell Inspiron XPS Gen 2 laptop I got while being in the Army)
2009 - Intel Core 2 Duo 2.53GHz (built my mom a Windows Vista PC and it ran perfectly - no bad-mouthing Vista!)
2010 - Intel Core i7-860 2.8GHz "Lynnfield" (my first real gaming rig, with dual GTX 480s in SLI)
2015 - Intel Core i7-6700K 4.2GHz "Skylake" (paired with a GTX 980ti)

For the record, that Core 2 Duo Vista system ran perfectly all the way until Vista was forcefully shut down by IE being out of date, Chrome being out of date, etc. That CPU went into a newer system that now runs Windows 10 and I sold it to my best friend. Works perfectly fine for him.

The i7-860 STILL works like a beast. My mother is now using it for her computer and the rest of the family there while I have my 6700K.

Of course, that list doesn't cover the new CPUs I've purchased this past year for retro systems, that includes a Katmai 600MHz Pentium III and a Barton 2.1 GHz Athlon XP 3200+.

i rather die than use Intel in my main rig. There is nothing wrong with their processors (except Netburst), i just cant stand the way they handle things (demands, monopoly, prices, etc)

dont forget that we have i3 with 4 cores, i5 with 6 cores, i7 with 6 cores/12threads, i9, etc because Ryzen. If it wasnt for Ryzen, Intel could still selling i7s with 4cores/8threads like high end at crazy prices...

Interesting trivia: I had several models of 486 processors, but never had the most "classic" one, the DX2-66. Also, I never had an actual Pentium (P54, P55), instead I blindly bought into the Cyrix 6x86 hype.

2005 - Mobile Pentium 4 HT 3.06 (a little furnace, from a Toshiba Satellite A75 whose fan sounded like a jet taking off)

Yeah, I've only owned two laptops in my entire life, the newest one being a late 2008 Macbook. I just find them uncomfortable to use for extended periods so I don't feel compelled to buy one, instead relying on the ones I get from my work.
