Its been a long time since Ive posted up in here, hows everyone been?

Ive Been trying out different color spray paint to find a good match for this project and so far unsuccessful. Ive been digging around online and discovered this from home depot https://www.homedepot.com/p/Rust-Oleum-12-oz- … 02596/206603186 any thoughts on this?

Im trying to stick with the vintage look without resorting to just blacking out the drives.

Welcome back!

Painting cases is hard and I haven't had any success despite several attempts. Most recently I bought a decent quality paint gun and had the local hardware store match the paint colour to a drive bay panel, but even that looked wonky, and I never get a really hardy finish no matter what I do with sanding it back / using primers.

Sorry to be such a negative nelly!

Were these cases originally powder coated at the factory?

Mine? Yes at least one of them was, but I ended up sanding that one back to bare metal.

I've also taken a case to a local painting company and they told me to get lost - too hard to match the colour for the size of the job. On a more positive note I have had success painting plastic; a C64 case came up really well with an off-the-shelf spray pack (after a plastic primer). But that's easier because the whole case is plastic, you're not trying to match a metal to a plastic colour.

Make sure you protect the paint by applying sealer afterwards

I was thinking about having a dealership match the paint color, but I ended up on settling on this look. I'm really digging the way it turned out. A lot of older HP's did this with their towers.

I'm debating on weather or not to do the power and reset in grey as well.

Looks quite nice! I'd leave it the way it is now

Looks great well done! I’d leave it if it was me.

Rust-Oleum kicks ass! I have that same case, but I'm painting it multi-beige this summer once I get some free time.
