From what I have read SDRam synchronises with the speed of the CPU I have a Pentium 3 450MHz with a multiplier of 4.5 but would 133MHz SDRam work at 100MHz and therefor be compatible in a GA-6BXC motherboard?

Yes.

And because you have 133mhz ram the cpu could be overclocked to 133fsb with a multiplier 4.5 would nearly touch 600mhz. But a 450mhz is a very nice speed not sure would need more for a retro P2/P3

No it wouldnt. The motherboard determines bus speeds, not the DIMMs. DIMMs are just dumb passive devices. They do have SPD ROM which can tell the motherboard what its capabilities are. But a motherboard will not try to run at unsupported speeds just because an SPD has big numbers.

The speed rating of a DIMM is like a speed limit on a road : it's just an indication. Go faster and bad things may happen, but it's up to the driver (motherboard) to decide how fast to go. Particularly in a case like this where the RAM and FSB speeds are linked - and the car (CPU) is an old banger that will not do 133MHz under any circumstances. Even with auto enabled, it won't choose any speed above the CPU's capability.

no what I meant was because he has 133 ram he could clock the cpu up to 133, but if he had 100 ram then clocking the cpu to 133 would most likely not run stable or at all at 133.

yeah it also depends on the bios if the fsb can be adjusted, I used to clock alot of Slot 1 cpus that ran at 100fsb to 133 provided had the ram to match.

And if it is even the most generic 133 MHz RAM then it would be CL3 which usualy can run CL2 when clocked at 100 MHz.
Depending on the settings on the boards (dip switches, etc) and what the CPU will do, there is some headroom to get it abouve the 450 MHz it comes with, RAM will definitely noit be an iussue.
