So I bought a HP 6475z with a Celeron 466mhz to be my Windows 9x / DOS machine for games that have higher requirements than my Pentium 75mhz or 486 DX2 66mhz can handle.

In preparation, I bought an ESS Solo1 PCI thinking there would be no ISA slot on the motherboard. Well, turns out there is. The board does not, however, have a SB-Link connector that I can find. Should I keep the current card or should I get a proper ISA card. Which card will Best suite the role of this machine?

Well, it has split personalities (Win9x and DOS), each would prefer a different card. For DOS you could choose any ISA card out there, but for basic functionality, the ESS Solo-1 is fine. It doesn't need a PC/PCI ("SBLINK") connection to give full DOS support. For Windows you're missing things like surround sound.

For a single card, just keep this one. You could also consider two separate cards, a good ISA card (maybe Yamaha-based) for DOS and a PCI A3D and/or EAX card for Windows.
