Ok, some facts now.....
Overclocking a (mobile) k6-3+ to a really stable 600mhz or higher is not that easy, it will run etc. but getting it perfectly stable can be a challenge. So overclocking a normal k6-3 to 600mhz? GOOD LUCK getting that stable. 500mhz is about the highest setting you can use, and not all of them can reach that.
Beside all this, the 5,5x multi is a better setting for these cpu's as it is in most cases faster compared to the 2x (=6x). Don't know why! Using the 5,5x 110mhz is perfect for a k6-3+ as it also gives you the higher fsb.
About the voodoo3: some ss7 boards with VIA chipset used a cheaper linear voltage regulator for agp, instead of a switching regulator. On these boards the voodoo3 3000 can be too much, also other high end cards like the TNT2Ultra or Geforce2 Ultra could be best avoided. Using the versions that are a tad slower (but draw less current) like the v3 2000 or Banshee or a normal TNT2 is the way to go on those boards, MX cards draw even less current.
So check what sort of regulator is on your board before using a voodoo3 3000 agp. Pci versions are fine.
Yeah, there was a good reason the fastest K6-2/3 model that was released was 570MHz, and that one was apparently not very stable in the first place. I never saw them advertised, only say reviews back in the days.
I personally run my K6-III+ at 500MHz and that's fine. It's fast enough.
