What type of ram to use in a 486 computer ?
Parity or Non-parity ?
No pro's to using parity ram if not running in a mission critical system, I'd go with non-parity, but get whatever is cheapest.

30-pin SIMMs - with parity
72-pin SIMMs - without parity
Though they may be some machines (Compaq comes to mind) with 72-pin sockets which require parity.

Use FPM instead of EDO unless you are sure the board supports it, otherwise parity makes absolutely no difference in 99.9% of cases.

Unless your 486 motherboard only supports parity RAM.
(Dell 425/P 4 72pin slots, treats 8Mb parity as 4Mb, so I've got a 16Mb PC, instead of the 64Mb one I'd have if it took non-parity devices...)
