After using a plastic scraper and some isopropyl alcool other and acetone I was able to clean it a bit but not totally:

How can I clean it completely? Unlucky the residue is not high enough to come off with the plastic scraper, what product could I use?

Thanks

There is a very interesting video from CPU Galaxy that explains how to esthetically restore a CPU.
I directly link the part about scratchs and the polish paste.

Thank you for the tip, this video is very interesting, unlucky the product he used it's unavailable in Europe, I will have to find a similar product...
I also tried BRASSO metal polish but it's not abrasive...

Ahh that is Superglue remover over here west of the Atlantic. It can remove many types of dried glues. Another good one that is very hard to find was called "Goof Off" Ultimate Remover (not Goo Gone or the new Goof Off) and contained something like a super WD-40 type fluid that could eat through many glues with out damage to plastics if used properly (but would eat plastic if you did not follow the directions 🤣)...

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun

WD40 is an absolute godsend. Put some on a paper towel, wait 3 minutes, and start rubbing the gunk off the CPU. If you're desperate, put a small amount on the CPU and wait a bit to rub it off. You have to get rid of the oil afterwards with some alcohol so that it won't interfere with heat transfer.

Thank you for all the suggestions, I left the cpu with her head down in a closed jar filled with acetone for the whole night, this morning when I took it out the gunk was ready to be taken off, then I used some liquid soap and a toothbrush and I scrubbed it under the water, final result is pretty good, there is a small residue near the I but otherwise seems fine:

Glue remover won't work in this case, as that is epoxy. Acetone was the way to go.

I normally use a razor blade, since I don't like playing around with acetone.
