Hi there,

Can anybody help me finding drivers for this old sound card? It has a Philips logo at the back and a Yamaha chip model YMF719E-9.

Thank you!

For DOS you can also use Unisound UNISOUND - Universal ISA PnP Sound Card Driver for DOS v0.81b or Tiido's SetYMF utility T-04YBSC-A, new YMF71x based sound card + SETYMF utility

I need some help with troubleshooting.

I've tried Tiido's utility and it says it cannot see the card and to try the /forcepnp (if memory serves) to run it anyways. When I run it with that option it says it cannot communicate with the card and that there is a possible address conflict.
I've tried a few options but no luck.

The card was sold as faulty so I am not expecting it to work 😀

I've noticed that there are two crystals on the card, on 24Mhz and one 30Mhz (if memory serves(. The 30Mhz does not seem to be working - but I do not see a clock input on the YMF chip? And there is really not much more on that card. Just wondering whether those clocks are for something which is not installed (I think there is a ROM socket which is not populated) or whether you think it's relevant.

On a quick check, the RESET line seems to be working and the Bus select and R/W select lines all show activity.

It could just be the usual I/O-IRQ-DMA nightmare which was very common back in the days! 😁

Any help appreciated as usual! Thank you!

I have to correct myself. There are two clocks going in the YMF - 24 and 33 Mhz. And one is missing. So I have ordered a new 33Mhz chip! 😀

Yeah, the chip needs working 33.8688MHz clock to function. I have had a card before where the crystal was faulty and caused things not to function. Any 3rd overtone crystal should work there.
