I used myself a EPIA 800 with a 3Dfx V2 Card as Mainsystem a long time.
My Computer was defective and i got one cheap.
As i could not effort a CPU, and a New Mainboard and a AGP Card this was pretty cheap for me.
It was running FreeBSD as Mainsystem and Windows XP for Games.
Played RTCW and Quake 3 on it, even Enemy Territory.

Today i was god damn lucky (in my own kind),here the story:

Local pick up,finally got (as i thought) Supreme FX II X-Fi (Sound Max ADI AD2000B based) for 6$
I was so happy got it such cheap cuz i was looking for it for about 2 years coz my Asus Rampage Extreme (X48 based) came to me without it
So after coming home and removing cover i realized it was Supreme FX III X-Fi that is VIA VT2020 based
I'll give it a try with Asus maximus iii Formula(that it originally was from) sound drivers and guess what - it sounds like a charm, even try it with 5.1 all seems compatible well
Only thing not working now - led flashlights.

While I was in there I spotted the cute Shuttle mini-PC case. It's pretty stripped; there's an Athlon XP / 962 board in there but nothing else, and especially no PSU (which is proprietary.) The form factor is apparently "flexATX" but Shuttle call it "Shuttle form factor" so who knows what fits it for mobos.

You can easily fit a micro-ITX motherboard in that shuttle case. As for the power supply, you can get a SFX psu in there with a little effort or modding. SFX is a bit shorter and wider then the shuttle psu, but you should be able to bolt it on there.

Cool, that was what I was hoping when I grabbed it. If I can find something with a Core2 or Phenom-whatever and a PCIe slot for a video card in that size it would be perfect.

The other option is just to shove this setup that I already have in and make an ISA/DOS/Pentium-MMX machine that I can lug around:

[edit: photob*ck^t hotlink removed, because screw those guys]

...but that would take a fair bit of modding the back panel. Not out of the question.

It's a Shuttle proprietary XPC format. It will only take XPC motherboards and power supplies. There's also a specific CPU cooler they use. Your's looks like a SK41G. http://global.shuttle.com/main/productsDetail?productId=470

I've had three different XPC models. They are nice little computers.

Found this today used at a thirft store for $30 out the door. Came with a nice shielded and filtered (both ends) attached VGA cable, even though I'm using the DVI port on it. VGA cable will go with my older computers.

...so that happened.

Turns out the original board is fine (the computer shop owner said it was dead.) It's running on an external PSU right now which isn't ideal (cables fed through openings with sharp metal edges), but it does work. And yes, *both* drives are supported in the bios:

It's not going to win any speed awards, but it's kind of a neat board, with firewire, USB2, dual real COM ports (wow!), parallel port pinheader (there's even a punch-out on the back for one), dual FDD support, and optical SPDIF on the front panel. Sorry to disappoint anyone looking forward to modding time 😉 but I have use for it as-is for now.

Would be nice if I could put an Athlon 64 in there but doesn't look like it.

(And yes, I know I accidentally plugged into the wrong IDE channel. I already fixed it.)

Maybe that's the same one that the Newegg reviewer of that monitor had. 🤣

I just bought this video card for ~10 euro + ~3 euro shipping.

I already have more S3 PCI cards than I ever will need but I do not think I have any S3 968 cards, this seems to be the version with 220 MHz RAMDAC.

Received my voodoo 5 today! It has been just over 15 years since I've owned one of these. It's only fitting that I pair it with the same CPU I had it paired with back then (ok this is a 750 and that was a 700, but they are both Slot A Athlons).

Actually mine's completely flawless. All the ports work, displayport, dvi and vga.. no bad pixels, no bad blackness in the corners. I dunno what the heck those reviewers were smoking, but mine's perfect.

And cheap, $30 for a 1080p IPS LED Energy-Star screen.. yeah... 😎

My catch today is DFI NT70-SC mobo, that came with 1gb(4x256mb) RIMMs
Originally i spotted and decide to buy just Rimms as upgrade for my 4x128mb,but after seller says: "ok lets me show ya how's it works" and showed me that board i'll ask him to buy it alltogether.
That neat bundle cost me 20$
Funny thing but seller asked 16$ for Rimms only

Nice, I have the stumpy version of that second case:
