I'm running 1024MB on my 440BX system with Win98SE and Win95 (limited to 768MB through settings), no problems whatsoever.

Really? I thought 440bx was limited to 3x256mb? The i440bx RAM FAQ says:

"No 512MB module will work in a board with the bx chipset, regardless what a vendor might tell you on the website."

Yes really. The Asus P3B-F got 4 RAM slots and the maximum amount RAM on each module is 256MB.

Here is a screengrab (using my VGA capturecard) from my BIOS bootup screen I had taken earlier as part of a private clip for Maur1wulf1977 here on Vogons 😀 (My Pentium III-S Tualatin 1400mhz is reported as a Pentium II):

No kidding. I had no idea there were 440bx boards with 4 RAM slots. All I've ever seen are 2 and 3 slots. Cool!

Abit BX6
Gigabyte 6BX7+
Gigabyte BX2000
etc

3 DIMMs was certainly the common config though.

My 1400MHz Tualatin Celeron (via slot-1 Powerleap) is reported as a "Pentium Pro 1200MHz" by the bios... Everything else detects it fine though. One of the other systems i tried it with just said "Unknown CPU Detected" but it still booted and worked just fine 😀.
