Looking at the Ziff-Davis Winbench99 FPU mark results, the Cyrix MII at 300 MHz scored 672 while a Pentium 150 scored 577. Looking at Bytemark's 32-bit DOS index, the Cyrix MII at 300 MHz scored 2.24 while the Pentium-150 scored 1.77. By comparison, the Pentium 233 MMX scored 2.52 in Bytemark's FPU index test.

m2-300 scored 0.037mflops in linpack, while pmmx-133 scored 0.041mflops, k6-2+133 scored 0.032mflops.
and in my quake2 test, m2-300 scored 36fps while pmmx-300 scored 39fps, thats pretty close.
in 3dmark2000, m2-300 scored 1270 while pmmx-300 scored 1250, wow.
k6-2-300 smoked them both in 3d tests, probably due to the addition of 3dnow.

My original question was if there was a chipset that was best suited for the cyrix.

I did my own testing on Ali 5, mvp3 en Intel Tx. They all perform virtually the same. I tested with an intel 233mmx and the curix mII-300 paired with a voodoo1.

Mvp3 had the best memory read speeds and tx had the best memory write speeds. Cpu tests were completely identical on every board, tested with lavalys everest.

3dmark 99 3d and cpu points were all within the margin of error.

The cyrix isn't extremely bad and very usable with a voodoo1. But i ended up with the intel tx, 233mmx, voodoo1, nice AT case, win98se and working nec card for usb.
Every time i build something slower and use win95 i'm just not satisfied.

asus tx97-e, 233mmx, voodoo1, s3 virge ,sb16
asus p5a, k6-3+ @ 550mhz, voodoo2 12mb sli, gf2 gts, awe32
asus p3b-f, p3-700, voodoo3 3500TV agp, awe64
asus tusl2-c, p3-S 1,4ghz, voodoo5 5500, live!
asus a7n8x DL, barton cpu, 6800ultra, Voodoo3 pci, audigy1
