And as you can see, people will register just to eventually receive a freebie. Vogons doesn't aim at getting the most users, it's aim is a community (or I think that's the aim 😉) and people just joining and posting to get a freebie doesn't help a community...Fully agreed here.
True that Vogons aim at being a community. In that light I see that this is a bad idea.
The thing about customers taxing something that are labeled as a gift, I heard about that before.
(Even here in Denmark)
Just keep in mind, that this is all ment as a sort of nice and positive gesture.
I will never ever ship something for new users.
I need to know, that the one I give something, is a long lasting member.
(Or a member that has been active a lot)
It is like if a person has given a lot of advice and given the community a lot, then I will
probably decide to give something to that person.
I am thinking of user's that know and are ok, with stuff portentially breaking in the mail.
Users like: HighTreason, Phil, Badmojo, Tetrium, RacoonRider, Gamecollector and easy_john.
Those are just examples of user's, not that I would just ship anything for them, without asking
for an mailing adress first. People have the right to say no. 🤣
The only thing I need to ask that person for, is a shipping adress, nothing more,
and if it breaks in the mail. Well.... Then it was worth a try.
Don't eat stuff off a 15 year old never cleaned cpu cooler.
Those cakes make you sick....
