guess I should of researched more. first couple sources I read didn't mention a 50mhz sx and one even specifically claimed no SX chip was made @ 50mhz. I never heard of them before.

It's also documented over here: http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/80486/Intel-A80486SX2-50.html I just went to the main page of the site, clicked vintage cpu's, clicked 80486, clicked intel, and it was right there in a few seconds.

As I now own two Socket 4 boards it is likely one will be sent to a good home once I figure out which one I prefer. I think I will keep that CPU no matter what... Probably end up keeping this board because I have a feeling it will turn out OK, I had a later board with this chipset once and it kicked major ass, here's hoping this one will too.

Think the seller is a Vogons member, so, um, hi. Bought from you before, actually that was a Socket 4 board too.

Ahhhhh... HighTreason... still using pictures too big to fit in to the forums I see.. 🤣

So picked up my latest acquisitions from last page today and currently stuck in work counting down the hours until I get to unload and test. I did take a quick look at some of the boards and so far I've seen (all in remarkbly great condition) a Creative labs Voodoo2 and three decent motherboards including 2 x Gigabytes - one 8IDX and one 7ZXE as well as a Soltek SL-65LIV and Abit KT7. I'm most excited about the 7ZXE and the KT7 as both are Socket A and I do have a non working KT7 from bitd at home, hoping this one is a worker! 😀 I also bought this lot because I spied the Aztech sound card which is identical to one I had bitd accidently threw out when we moved 🙁

I've got about 5 desktops that all have motherboards, loads of ram, sound cards, video cards, network cards and lots of wires and various other bits and bobs

I'm also hoping that Nokia 3310 is working, had one as my 3rd ever phone and still have the case for it 😁

Edit: Just had a poke through the display cards

1 x PCI Express X300
1 x Compaq S3/VirgeGX PCI
1 x ATI Rage 3d PRo AGP
2 x ATI Rage 128 Pro AGP
1 x M64 AGP
1 x Matrox G2+ G200
1 x Creative Voodoo2
1 x V7 Mercury Spea ISA

Those alone make me pleased of paying £50 for the haul especially as I've got the cases and other motherboards as well! The money has gone to a good cause as they sell these items to look after disabled cats that no-one wants to adopt 😀

I bought this old P200MMX unit loaded with 64MB RAM, 2gb HDD, ATI Rage II, 3DFX Voodoo 2 and SB16 Vibra. Very flexible Socket 7 mobo with 3 ISA, 3 PCI and one shared slot. Both SIMM & DIMM memory slots.

There's a few 486SX2-50s floating around eBay at the moment, £15 shipped from Australia doesn't sound all that bad IMO. But you think that a 486SX2-50 was crazy, what about AMD's 486SX2-66?

@Soviet Conscript: Not much is known about those towers it seems. 😒 They must not have sold well and are super ultra rare (as someone in the Packard Bell group put it). Any info you can provide would be awesome so we can update the wiki. 😁

One of the guys did find this however! ( I resized it so it would fit on this forum)

Those video cards I mentioned a few pages back arrived today:

vy60ykgh.jpg

From top to bottom:
-- Western Digital WD90C00
-- Oak Technologies OTI037C (with both EGA and VGA connectors!)
-- Trident TVGA8900C
-- Western Digital WD90C30
-- And, finally, a Tseng ET4000AX VLB

Haven't tried any of these out yet. Really curious to see how well the Tseng VLB card performs in my 486 box.

That one vintage computer enthusiast brony.

I'm just teasing ya by the way, poking fun at your pictures. No malice intended. 😀

Also I use 1080p on all my computers, and they didn't fit at first.

I received a working DV-7 and a bunch of PCMCIA cards, the one without label is a 1GB flash card.

Got my XG-YMF724 chipset PCI soundcard in tonight (and it wasn't fried!)

I've been comparing it to the AWE32 I have and made some interesting observations...

XG-YMF724 Observations...

* Much more punch on low end bass sounds and drum hits.
* Trumpets sadly sound like car horns, flutes sound very strange.

AWE32 Observations...

* Hit end instruments have a "pop" sound in the speakers
* Low end has little to no punch compared to the XG chipset.

Looking forward to having some time to repair the AWE64 this weekend and adding to the comparison.

I saw one such before. It was first half of 1995 I think.
It belonged to a person that went to the same school as me.

Don't eat stuff off a 15 year old never cleaned cpu cooler.

I seem to be having a thing with older Matrox graphics cards of late... totally accidental ofcourse!

The first is an EISA card that apart from being a framegrabber, can also be used as a regular graphics adaptor: -

The second is an MCA card, a pre-XGA... high end PS/2 graphics adapter

Can you ever have enough ISA sound cards? Amazingly, I had no AWEs before that, and no Creative ISA sound cards (excluding an old Vibra I had eons ago).

Do you have an MCA system or is this a 'for when I get one' purchase?

I picked up a couple of VLB graphics cards increasing my collection from 0. The S3 805 is particularly interesting as it has a jumper to select system speeds greater than 33MHz. Plus a MIDI cable to replace the one I chucked years ago because I had an SB Live! with the expansion interface. Even if I still had that it wouldn't do me any good because this is for my 386 so I can use my Roland with it.

Have always wanted a diagnostic board and the floppies were random so I didn't know what they were until I got them. Turns out to be a copy of WordPerfect, Lotus Freelance Graphics, Windows 3.1 (not all the disks work though), DOS 6.22, and the only other thing worth mentioning was an ICL 'introduction to your system' disk which works perfectly. That was the most interesting thing really. Alas, no porn.

brassicGamer, nice batch!

Could you upload the 'introduction to your system' disk? It would be fun to look at that fancy presentation.

I thought that might be requested by a few people 😀

Disk image in .IMA format, made using WinImage 9.0, available here and a pic of the disk itself is attached. If anyone has any problems with this from a copyright point of view let me know.
