Hello, I have an x68000 XVI on which I installed a card which adds 10MB of RAM and a midi output.
I also added a Bluescsi V2 with SD card.

My problem is the following and concerns the game Akoumajou dracula. When I start the game from the SD card no problem.
But if I launch the game from my original disks I get a bus error during midi initialization at startup.
I would like to point out that before the recognition of bluescsi v2, the game in disk version started without problem with midi.

Anyone have the solution?

How much ram installed on the base system and how have you configured the add-on memory?

The x68000 only has 10mb maximum addressable ram due to the reserved windows for the graphics ram, text ram etc (it's all memory mapped io).

Normally you need to configure the ram card to the correct amount: on my super with 1mb onboard, plus a 1mb expansion module, I had to configure the card to 8mb (10mb total).

I never use floppies on my Super, so I can't say for certain what the behaviour is on mine, though I'm using an SCSI/SD adapter plugged in to the internal SCSI header and not an emulator (all from Classic PC Club Japan).

They have a basic 2mb and my card adds 10mb. I configured the ram in switch.x to 12mb (the Option is there). I have already tested by changing the RAM value (reset to 2MB by default) and it doesn't change anything. I remind you that everything was working well before I added an HDD image to my SD card in my bluescsi v2.

I really can't help any further - my only suggestion would be to try an alternate SCSI device.

If you can boot from floppy then you could try a SCSI zip drive if you can get hold of one. Using the 'susie.x' utility you can map zip/mo/CDROM drives as normal drives on the x68000:

FAT16 partitions seem to work fine, but FAT32 is not supported by Human68k dos.

Ah, now hold on, this is one of those new combined memory + midi cards, yes? I suspect you are better off talking to the designer; all of my testing is with an original Sharp CZ-6BM1 midi card and an XSIMM10sS memory upgrade:

It's entirely possible there is some conflict with th combined midi/ram card and the SCSI bus as emulated by bluescsi which is impacting the floppy data bus... I'm afraid my technical knowledge of the x68000 extends to graphics hardware access and programming, but not to the io/storage subsystem.

You best bet outside of contact with the developer of the ram/midi card is on the forums at nfg games.

Thank you very much for your help. I appreciate.

I have a 2 in one card: this card

I'm not sure how I'm going to contact the manufacturer of this card.

I think I found the solution. 😀

The presence of an akumajou folder on the scsi hdd ^^
