My girlfriend doesnt make any problem that i have a retro computer hobby.. I have my own space here and i can do what i want. If she cant cope with it then she better leave.. Simple as that..

what's inside?! 😊

The PS/1 Audio Card & Joystick bundle.

It's going to go great with the PS/1 system that I donated to Goodwill last year...

After work in an old town I came home with some great toys.

HP Pavilion 8396 12GB quantum and a rare 450mhz p2
Generic p4 build with asus board GF2 mx200 32mb
Dell Precision 420 933mhz slot1 p3, 512mb rdram, 32gb (jumpered to 8gb) scsi160, 3DLabs Wildcat 4110 (this system can do smp) Intel 840 based! So in a few months P3 might see 2gb 😎
Free flame thrower (propane) that needs a lot of work (used to clearing brush)

All three machines were bought as trash salvage for a buck each.

I grabbed that Gravis Ultrasound PnP clone that someone posted in another thread a couple of weeks ago. That was a great price for that card so I had to have it. A genuine Gravis is too pricey and I don't see anyone listing one for less than the current going rate any time soon.

Had an Ultrasound MAX, was cool at start, but nothing special 😀

GUS was the card to have until AWE32 was released. That was the first card that really gave the GUS any serious competition, IMHO.

I didnt play much with it.. I have only checked on the first one if the controller was working..
I only can use it with iam going to build my 486 system.

Iam looking for a manual or data sheet for the settings on that card.

This isn't a purchase, but it's one of my latest acquisitions. One of my clients was clearing out a storage closet at his office and I picked it out of the junk pile.

Behold, the classic Enlight 6680:

28tg9zl.jpg

I think everybody here will recognize this case straightaway, and the majority have probably owned one at some point or another.

It's in quite good shape, no dents anywhere, just a few minor scuffs in the paint and a bit of yellowing on one side of the faceplate. The power supply is the original Enlight as well. As you can see, it also has a Samsung 24X CD-ROM drive, and a 250MB floppy-tape drive (which I'm guessing is a transplant from an older system, given its early '94 date code).

[Billy Mays]But wait, there's more! If you call in the next ten minutes, you'll also get this other shit absolutely free![/Billy Mays]

2aj51mu.jpg

It came equipped with an Asus P2-99B. Fukken sweet. 😎
Baby-AT Slot1 boards are really damn hard to find, and reputable brands even more so. It's only a 440ZX, rather than a BX, but it is the latest revision which supports 133FSB, and supposedly it's also possible to flash it with the last P2B beta BIOS and get it to run a Tualatin.

Incidentally, the same client also has several old Gateway full towers he's going to be getting rid of pretty soon, whenever he gets around to moving the stacks of file boxes out of the way to get to them. I spied a P5-60, a P5-100, and a P5-166, but there's apparently a couple more hidden in a corner that I couldn't see.

It was being sold just as 'some STB sound card'. The seller wasn't aware of it being a GUS clone. Yet I recognized it judging by its exterior typical for Gravis PnP. 20$ was a real bargain for such a card.

You guys are unlucky. My girlfriend finds my hobby interesting and often asks to see what I'm fiddling with. But then again I only bring out one old PC at a time and have all the rest of the stuff packed away when I'm not using them. I don't litter them all over the house.

I am very happy with my wife really. She is very flexible with me spending time on my hobby instead of watching TV with her. It is just that I had a 3 dining room table setup in 2010 / 2011 with 8 to 10 PCs setup. She does not want to see that again. It looked like a nutty professor setup back then with all the CRTs, cables, noise, MIDI modules and so forth. 😊

Cool. When you have a chance you should take / buy those. You can easily recover some good $ even when you sell those cheap. Gateway 2000 has a big following in the retro community.

Got a SCC-1 @ my EU address today. No idea whether it works. I will test it in December. It was sold as an Edirol product with lots of MIDI files back in the day. 😎 No midi-MIDI cable. I will have to find one of those once I confirm it still works.

^ well, the scc-1 has an onboard SG synth (scb-55) so all you need to test is is a pair of speakers!
Nice stuff btw 😁
