I'm also looking for an X-Fi. The model you have could be this DELL / HP OEM version of the Xtreme Music. If you get to test let me know if you have any dramas with the drivers.

EDIT: I just read about your Splinter Cell build on another topic...I may have to mirror your setup as much as possible and try the same game with my FX5950 since I all of a sudden am interested in trying this game out as well...it's sitting on my shelf collecting dust and I think you inspired me to finally try it out (hopefully soon)...I'll have to comment under that topic if I get it running on my test bench soon.

Ya I figured that when I saw no markings on it at all...it may be a while before I get some time to test though, but I will post my experiences with it when I do.

I took a bit of a risk buying it from a local eBay seller, but again I got it for a decent price ($10), so I thought I would take a chance without knowing for sure if the drivers will work.

Two of these cards just sold on eBay Canada. I wanted to buy them but was too slow. Didn't get a reply to overseas shipment.

Yes these cards are quite solid. With that series cards started to become big and bulky.

Apart from ATI. Their cards are much lighter and simpler. For example the 9800 Pro weighs almost nothing.

Probably not too retro, but a pair of original DSes that cost me £7 with P&P. The picture flatters them a bit, as they're a little tired cosmetically, but they work perfectly. Why sellers advertise things as working perfectly, but only good for spares due to age, is beyond me.

both from ebay, paid £40 for the Voodoo 5 5500, perhaps a little steep but I REALLY wanted it. voodoo 3 2000 was a very reasonable £5. Will be having some real 3DFX fun when these 2 arrive. I always wanted a Voodoo 5 back in the day, but too expensive for my tastes, by the time they were cheaper i only had a AGP 1.5 board. Now i finally get to play 😀

got myself a Lian Li PC60USB ithe same one as in this picture on newegg , either from 2001 or 2002, Im not quite sure.

using it for my Win98/2k machine which until now as in a typical beige case from 1999 , the PC60 is a bit less vintage , but its more spacious by a decent amount, and the cooling is far better with 4 fans as opposed to 1.
only annoyance is that the hard drives are positioned right in front of the intake fans (and there is no other space for them , including the 3.5 bays used for the floppy drives), which kind of blocks the intake fans a bit.

other than that its probably the finest case Ive ever gotten my hands on.

Yeah do your rig justice with Lian Li. They make for great builds that really show the gear off. Nice minimalistic design, well thought out and constructed, in 'can't be beat' clear anodized aluminum.

Ive never seen one of these in the shops at the time, but from what Ive heard and can imagine, these cases cost alot back in the day
I like the look of these cases more than some of the Apple computers of the day, like the Power Mac G4, which says a fair bit

@topic, got an A7N8X-E Deluxe and a 3000+. Won't be building a rig out of this, but if I ever feel the need to play around with Athlon XP stuff this should do the trick.

It all comes at a price. The day before yesterday I got myself into taking apart stuff before sending it to for utilisation. There were 1 robotron typing machine, 19 monitors, 17 Epson printers from 1985-1995, several PCs and other old stuff. I collected a bunch of parts for myself, rescued a 19" Benq LCD monitor (which is now my second display at work), a photocopier, gave some RAM to people in need.

The place I work for is a secure industrial plant, no metal allowed in or out; a warehouse woman helped me get the stuff through the security. Garbage it may be, yet the codex is strict.

And yesterday I payed the price. The favor had to be returned, and I helped move the warehouse from cellar to the ground floor for good 5 hours. You can imagine what an industrial warehouse is - countless boxes full of metal in tall racks. I have never been that tired...

I just hope it was worth it and at least most of the stuff works:

nice haul! is that rubber on the seagate HDD? used to have a similar one. don't know if they did that for vibration reduction or what...
