SB-Link out my self.

That's the spirit! Personally for DOS ISA is the only way.

True. Or at least in most cases. If I only played, lets say Doom (1 and 2).
And I could only get my hands on PCI soundcards.
Well... Then only the SB-Live can do for me.

Anyway...
My P3 board is crippeled (no ISA slots), yet it's got SB-Link header.
If only the Live had SB-Link header.

See my post and try disable irq 11 or 12?(whatever now your XG irq) in the BIOS PNP configuration.

If you are lucky you can use it with pure DOS.

Anyone have or know where I can get Windows 3.1 drivers for a WDC WD90C31A-LR VGA graphics?

Try here? http://files.mpoli.fi/hardware/DISPLAY/PARADISE/

Oh thanks! I must not had either heard of that place or forgot about it, and wasn't using the right search terms. I didn't know "Paradise" was a part of it, since the WDC chip is onboard. 🤣

-Edit-

Well, that works out! It appears it's even boosted After Dark's performance a little as well in Windows 3.1. 😀

Rescued this today... I'm not sure if this counts as retro or anything but I just love its masculinity. Though it doesn't have CPUs, PSU or disks, it didn't cost almost anything...

Today I was awarded a winning bid on an IBM 5153 CGA CRT through http://www.shopgoodwill.com. In original box apparently. I will have to wait and see whether it works when it arrives next week or the week after. I will ask a friend whether I can borrow a CGA card for it. Hopefully this means I can joust in Defender of the Crown. My current VGA CGA emulation or my 21" CRT cannot handle CGA jousting. 🙁 The winning bid backed out of the deal last minute apparently.

Congratulations, hopefully it works!

Makes me wish the IBM 5153 I got arrived in safe condition... the idiot seller from Ebay had packed it in just news papers a while back. 😵

I am still hunting for one in good condition for my IBM 5150... I just gotta give it time! 😀

Very frustrating when ebay sellers have no idea how to pack something correctly.

Goodwill usually packs very well / safely. They charge handling for it. Since it is a charity that is fine. In case it works well and after I play with it we may be able to work something out. I am not planning on holding on to it.

You know, I never knew about their auction site, sounds like it'd be worth keeping an eye on!

And wow, really? 🤣 I ought to dig my IBM 5150 out of my closet and try to find a replacement RAM chip that is bad. (My CGA unit). my Monochrome unit works just fine, but I need to do some maintenance on the floppies, lube 'em and what not... while I am thinking about it. 😀

One of the reasons I am not going down the 51** route: too much maintenance. 😀

Haha, well, I don't mind it. 😀 It's just the CGA based 5150 hasn't really been touched since I've been not only been waiting for a monitor, I also didn't want to steal any parts off the other IBM 5150. I'd rather have them both going.

One thing I'd like to get a hold of someday are one of those XT to Compact Flash card adapter things. Would be pretty sweet.

-EDIT-

Oh wow, I still have the links to the pictures of that wrecked 5153 from the crappiest shipping. 😵

Hope you got your $ back!

Yeah, I did actually. The seller had claimed it was his son who packed it. He apologized and refunded it quickly. This was a couple years back. Honestly this was part of why I hadn't hunted hard for another IBM 5153 on ebay because I feared this would happen again.

Lukeno94 wrote:

Ouch, that's painful to look at. I presume it was busted up internally and didn't work as well?

I didn't honestly try. The CRT tube was loose, and I was afraid it could short circuit. I may still have it in the garage actually. I suppose parts could be salvaged...

I've had 24" Sony FW900 monitors shipped to me before just fine... I think it was Fedex though, rate wasn't that bad for 100 pound CRTs.

Though wow, 21" Gateway 2000 CRT would be sweet to pair with on my EISA system someday. Though I need to use desk space wisely as it is. 🤣

Excellent. I once had someone mail me a 19" Eizo CRT: he packed it extremely well but it took about an hour to unpack it. He used a lot of glue. I tried to mail someone a 21" Gateway 2000 CRT last year but in the end it was so big / heavy USPS would not mail it and UPS wanted $200 from NY to TX so that ended that adventure.

Where do you find it all? Find me a new 19" monitor by Eizo, Mitsubishi, NEC or Sony =) but you can keep all those Gateway monitors =)
