Nothing wrong with that 😉. Fellow metal head here, rock on \m/

Unfortunately, this place is filled with only chavs (eww!)¹, hipsters and druggies... The druggies are the best of the bunch, they at least usually have something of a personality, even if it is just the delusions of a drug addled brain.

Bought some components related to AM radios today - only a few pennies worth of passive components. Don't usually dabble with things like that. Also have to fix the FM receiver on something but its been broken for years and I can't get FM radio here anyway - not to mention it gets shut down soon and I never listen to the radio, so it's probably pointless.

¹ I only linked on this one because I am unsure how much the word "chav" is used outside of the UK. I know that even other parts of the UK use different words, such as Scallie and Ned. interestingly the URL tag also doesn't get parsed by the forum with the ¹ character.

Yeah... Most young danes, just use words like skank or something like that.
Not that I find that word any fun at all. It's just the young 18 to mid 20 year old ones, that are so foul in their choice of words.

"Hail the lizard" by the way! 😀

I always feel that any thread has a direction and sometimes it can take a minor detour but such branches wear themselves out on their own after a while and all goes back to normal. A little derailment is actually good, it's a community, not an instruction book - though there is a whole lot of useful information here - and people in communities talk to one another.

If it's any better, I just got my grubby hands on an Audio transformer and a 1MHz Crystal Oscillator for something I am working on that is retro. I'd share pictures, but they all look the same so you may as well Google them if you don't know what these components look like. I have no idea if my ridiculous idea will work, but it is worth a go.

Picked up some RDRAM parts and will be putting together a socket 423 system soon. Working on that, an Abit Tualatin system, a Prescott 478 system and a few other things this week. Man I need to focus and finish one rig at a time.

Main pc: Asus ROG 17. R9 5900HX, RTX 3070m, 16gb ddr4 3200, 1tb NVME.
Retro PC: Soyo P4S Dragon, 3gb ddr 266, 120gb Maxtor, Geforce Fx 5950 Ultra, SB Live! 5.1

Hey I actually remember that quick 'n dirty AM radio transmitter thing from many years ago! It actually does work 😜. Back then I used a 10MHz TTL clock gen. instead of the 1MHz one because I wanted to transmit in the shortwave band, and it worked quite well for its simplicity.

Lets not derail this thread into female fronted metal. If Facebook is any indication, every time that comes up there is endless drama with people being a bit too honest about their opinion on band X, someone getting way more offeded than they should, and things escalate from there. Honestly, it looks like my teenage cousing arguing about One Direction.

Honestly, I'm going to start getting ticked off. I can scroll through this thread without anyone raising an eyebrow because there's nothing questionable in it, but now that you turkeys have started posting pictures of girls, everywhere I have to worry about anyone looking over my shoulder and seeing this stuff in my favorite RETRO HARDWARE THREAD... NOTHING TO DO WITH WOMEN OR BANDS.

Comon' folks, let's not have any more pages in this thread funked up with your off-topic chat. Take it to PM if you want to make friends.

Last piece of the puzzle arrived from Japan (CM-32). Now the tower is complete. I blame Phil (as usual) for all this.
