Nice, I have the stumpy version of that second case:

Yours looks like one of those '50s sci-fi "aliens" that was a human actor with a bald head extension. 😜

The stumpy one looks nice, but it is missing the MHz leds 😉 Mine is in bad shape though, plastic pins broken (dried out) so the back won't stay on and severely yellowed.

The other one is my favorite. It weighs a ton! It even came with the manual. Still no time to check the insides, I do think it has been fully upgraded once in the past...

Whats broken?
My Prolient 1600 was filthy when I got it last year (It had sitting in the corner of a carpeted office powered on for years) but nothing a good wash couldn't fix, and its only slot 1, you have the twice as cool slot 2!

Got a HDD caddy to use with my Satellite Pro 460CDX... one actually intended for use in the much newer Pro A200. But it fits, and it's allowed me to actually verify that the system does work, that it has a good keyboard and trackpoint (even though the rubber was gone), and is thus worth saving. Yey!

PSU and mobo had few bad caps. I think that's fixed.
Mobo is still somehow unstable. Random restarts and lockups. Maybe my ECC module is incompatible? Gotta find another one.
Have no Hdd caddy and few more stuff is missing.

This machine was dumped in some warehouse for who knows how many years.

It works!

Pentium 133MHz on a SiS mainboard, Sound Blaster 16 CT4180. Nothing really exciting 🙁 But the case is magnificent and the PSU works and that is all I wanted 😀

Wow - haven't checked in here for a couple of days. Some epic finds! Very much regretting giving away my Mobster Sounds 10 years ago 🙁

Check out my blog and YouTube channel for thoughts, articles, system profiles, and tips.

That yellow "nose", is that an air intake hole? 😀

Haha, no it's one of those sliding trays you can use to swap HDD's. This one is a bit wonky though, if you don't put it in just right the machine will fail to boot. I took it out, quite useless if you just have the one tray for it...

I plan on building my 'ultimate' AT system in it, not quite sure what to go for. I want it to be a bit higher spec than the case (which I guess had a 486 in it originally?). I'm contemplating a (S)S7 system or Pentium II or III. Put in a nice old CD ROM, 5.25"and 3.5"FDD, 2 HDD's. 😀

That HDD bay device looks to be from a colani range of Vobis machines, the one that went with your tower looks different. I love that tower too. I remember a friend having this model. The power switch had this really chunky sound 😀

Yup,good catch! The tower is a Vobis Highscreen. It even came with the manual with information on the HDD bay device. It does not really seem to fit though, more like the one in th desktop example in the manual. 😀

Bought lots of AMD processors for socket 754 and 939. Some high end ones like the 4000+ with San Diego core, this CPU was what I wanted back in the day, but was too pricey. I never ended up getting it as I got a Core 2 Duo when it came out. Also some socket 754 motherboards with VIA chipset. Apparently the early nForce3 wasn't that great when Athlon 64 was launched and VIA was the better choice.

Same here - ran an X2 4400+ Socket 939 & Nforce3 setup for years, until the "Code 43" compatibility issue surfaced between those dual core procs + AMD Video Cards + NF3 + Windows Vista.

Great card, no doubt.

Scored a Radeon AGP X1950 Pro locally from Australia, that is always good as the shipping is reasonable. I'm having a ton of items incoming, will be a few trips to the post office over the n 😊 ext few weeks
