I have a 15" IBM CRT monitor from 1995 that needs work on the video port. It has a shit load of dust inside the monitor and it looks like the video port is affected. I can clean the port on the outside with contact cleaner, but it turns pink again after sitting there.

nice. looks like someone had long video card in it at one point too.

I did too. It might not be the best idea to put computer parts on shag now that I think of it.

Sadly most of those DFI boards have the whiny but original chipset fan replaced by Zalman heatsinks which were a) extremely tall b) too wide. They work well on Intel boards where the chipset is above the graphics card but on DFI's they need some treatment with a saw.
Thankfully my DR-Expert still has the original fan and it's fully functional.
My NF3-UltraD also has a blue Zalman but it's not that bad since it's AGP, there aren't many 2-slot AGP cards anyway. FX5950 Ultra is the only one I know of being a full 2 slot design.

DFI's are difficult boards to work with, often the stock settings are all over the place. Especially RAM on DFI's needs a lot of tweaking, the stock timings are way too tight for most kits, I'm now trying to figure out how to run 4x1GB of those OCZ's at 400Mhz, stable.

And the TV I use daily is a 1978 zenith Space phone TV. Ok its a bit dodgy. It has a big warning on the back stating to ware a lead lined vest when working on it. 😲 And I did refurb it. It will need a new pitcher tube down the road. 😠 as its getting abit dim.

I keep an RCA TruFlat 27 inch CRT TV around for retro gaming and watching VHS/Classic TV shows.

Yeah both DFI and abit boards take a special type of person to use properly. Most get lost in the sea of bios settings.

Doesn't that describe most old motherboards? Today everyone expects a Utility to do the work for them. Even boards as old as my P5N-D have an AI Overclocking tool.

Nothing like an old dfi board. True bios have gotten far more simple, but dfi was even crazy back in their day.
Mostly with all the ram settings.
I even seen a few with SATA port overclocking and other settings to overclock things you'd never think of overclocking.

The main problem with DFI's is that they put such riddiculous timings to RAM, you could reset to BIOS defaults and still BSOD in Windows. That's what I get now, with 4x 1GB sticks the board thinks it can set the timings to something like 3-2-3-6. 😀))

Well my M912 Motherboard arrived.
jBHFGGRm.jpg
It came with one Intel 486 DX2( it will be swapped with one DX4-100),512k of cache and with 8MB of 72 pin SIMM, but i got a pair of 8MB alongside to get 16MB(i think for ms-dos and dos games it will be more than enough).
After this month close i will get the VLB VGA(i think i will go with the Cirrus Logic that i mentioned in another topic) the VLB Multi I/O, the CF Card (2GB).
Since i don't own any CD-Audio game i will not bother with the CD-ROM right now.
And i also need to get one AT power supply and recap it.
I tested the fan that came with the dx2 and the bard and its quite silent and will be good to be used on the dx4 100

What caught my attention on this board is the CR2032 instead of those dallas rtc bs and those soldered battery, also the zif socket, i really hate those sockets where you need to push hard the cpu on the socket

Bios failure ? I've got the same board and it doesn't POST for no reason ... Could-it explain why ? I might try this as I encountered a dead bios chip once

Yeah. The PC was sitting in storage since the late 1990s and didn't get taken out of storage until late 2011 when I discovered it. That and the original clock battery leaked and when I put the new one in, the settings erased itself and the date and time was always off (Award Lawsuit BIOS).

I have a Packard Bell Pack-Mate 28 Plus that still works to this day and it only needed a new clock battery.

Really glad that somebody picked up that system! I would have hated to see the guy give up trying to sell it and send it to the trash/recycler/whatever.
