This arrived today for my new SS7 project i'm starting. Looks to be a really interesting board. It's a Chaintech 5RSA2 V2.0 Aladdin V Board. MATX, 2 ISA slots and i'm interested to see how the onboard ESS-Solo1 works in DOS. Will add 2 extra Soundcard's if it works well 😀

It camee with a K6-2 400 and 2x128mb Crucial PC100 CL2 ram modules.

AND integrated sound that shouldn't suck too much (I can't see with that photo, but it might be an ESS1868F chip there) so you don't absolutely need an ISA sound card

It's an ES1938 (Solo 1) according to the manual. Should be very good.

I didn't know mATX boards existed prior to the Slot 1 era.

This board is newer than Slot 1, and I think that the ATX specification including mATX is actually older than Slot 1. It was hardly used before Slot 1 though.

Just to add to what you already said, most (s)s7 µATX boards I saw seemed to be the SiS5598 or SiS530 boards (and most of those were OEM boards like PB). If I ever saw a µATX s7 or ss7 board, it was usually a SiS 🤣
Though I don't know from top of my head whether these were already made in 1997 (I'm too lazy to go get such a board from my stash and check the date code)

Yikes...

I just bought a motherload of motherboards.

For $135 shipped I'll be getting...

18 (yes, eighteen) Asus TUV4X boards in good condition with no apparent capacitor plague
8 other older Socket 7 boards, some with Pentiums installed

The TUV4X supports Pentium 3 Tualatin-S 1.4Ghz CPUs, 4xAGP Pro, 6 PCI, and up to 1.5GB of PC-133, so aside from being Via-based ( Apollo Pro 133T vs i815) they're about as good as you can get on Socket 370. 😲

I guess the only downside to this model is that you have to modify any heatsink clips that have 3 tabs because of the placement of a component near the CPU socket. Small price to pay I guess...

Now for some blitting from the back buffer.

Haha. Whenever I see a bunch of AGP cards, my eyes just kinda gloss over. Glad you got the card you were looking to pick up.

One of these.... Can sync to 15khz. Perfect for Amiga's. Price is decent, so I am not complaining.
For a long time, I have thought about the perfect flatscreen solution to my mixed PC and Amiga setup.
This monitor even has a DVI input, yet nothing more than VGA and DVI.

(I have added a link, if anyone else want to buy one of them)

I have an NEC MultiSync LCD1530V and a Samsung SyncMaster 215BW monitor, and I believe both support the 15KHz, but I digress. My SyncMaster does have Composite, S-video, and Component inputs, so hooking up an 8-bit computer or video game system is a good choice.

What nefarious plan do you have for 18 very nice socket 370 mobos?

Dont know if they support 15khz. For me, my plan has been to find a single monitor setup solution for both Amiga and Dos/Win98 gaming machines.

Been looking into scandoublers of various kinds and so on. Nothing really seems to fit the bill 100%. Shure I could just go for a CRT setup, wich would be easy. The problem lies in, that my girlfriend gets migrane from CRT flickering and high pitch noise. And because we live together, CRT's are 100% out of the question. And there is the question of space, making me go for that epic quest for one single monitor setup. Reports on the net are not something to be found everywere. 🙁

Next quest is to find out, if a simple DIN to Vga cable excists, for hooking up a C64. Or a DIN to DVI cable.
