Googling A-Trend Helios 3D shows a lot of models with heatsinks and some with no heatsinks having epoxy residue on the chips, which makes me believe that at least some were sold with cooling attached.

That's true for almost every Voodoo 1 card. Examples:

ColorMAX VP-503

No-name Voodoo 1
http://old.vgamuseum.info/images/stories/palc … doo1_top_hq.jpg

Interestingly, the heatsinks are always the same. It's more likely that it was common back then to add heatsinks and those were specially made for the Voodoo 1.

Couldn't resist a 5950 Ultra for $10 and change on Ebay. Had a massive Zalman copper cooler on it that was bending the PCB. Removed it and replaced with the original cooler that I restored back to working condition as I prefer everything original. Ebay description stated the original cooler fans had stopped working. Nothing a little oil can't solve. Spinning like new. Anyone interested in the Zalman cooler PM me as I have no use for it. You know the drill, I pay for shipping to keep the Cigarette Smoking Man happy. Has to be a U.S. shipping address.

I was surprised to find the 5950 Ultra was not much faster than my non-Ultra 5900. Maybe my 2x AGP port holding it back? Will find out with some testing I suppose. I would like to grab a Gainward 5950 Ultra Golden Sample one day as it has the red LED fans. Used to own one back when they were new. Should have kept that card.

Ok. So still no takers on this GPU cooler. Anyone who wants it free and clear go ahead and PM me. Refer to my post here:

Another R100 board for my collection - Radeon DDR 32MB.

Now I'm only missing the original 7200 and possibly Radeon SDR with DVI. 😀

Can anyone ID this motherboard from seller's potato shots? I may be interested in getting it with the 800EB and RAM on it if it's a Tualatin board with ISA.. He asks only $10 for it, though it's "untested".

If you don't have physical access to the board, ask the seller. The model name is between the top two PCI slots in the photo, just not clear enough to read.

That's a cool card, man. I had a Diamond Stealth AGP card that was a clone to an ATI Radeon (might've been the Radeon 7000 clone) and it had 64MB of DDR on it.

So correct me if I'm wrong here.

But there were two original Radeons... the 32MB and 64MB DDR (SDR came out months later). Generally, the 64MB version was binned and used faster memory. But that all depends on the OEM/ODM (my 32MB DDR default is 166/166; my 64MB DDR default is 200/200). The fact that it has a 'R6' sticker means its a very early board (Radeon was Rage6).

The Radeon 7200 is just a rebadge of the original Radeon 32/64MB DDR.

You are right - both DDR variants are the oldest. Btw - 200 MHz default clock is rather rare I think, 183 MHz was the standard for Radeon DDR VIVO.

But what I meant with "Original 7200" is this https://videocardz.net/ati-radeon-sdr-64mb/ Late version of Radeon SDR using 64MB RAM. It was released around the time all R100 cards were renamed to Radeon 7200.

I just read the label on the back. Now I don't want to spoil the mystery..., so I put it here: https://i.imgur.com/20326JP.png

I'm also excited to see the insides...been on a mmx era socket 7 hunt lately.

It looks like this but mine has 2 heatsinks on the chips, looks original (and pretty "mint'y"

ALL 3dfx cards are worth something. Having heatsinks is even better, since Voodoos get pretty hot and you don't want to lose this sort of hardware to heat.

I have the same black card from A-Trend with dual heatsinks and judging from the cooling solution and fast memory (83MHz when the default is only 50)I think they expected people to overclock them.

EDIT: I assume yours looks like this?

P_20171014_182337.jpg

Anyway, they are really fun cards to mess around with and are a great edition to any socket 7 build and mid 90s games.

Yup, 100% identical to yours, even the heatsinks.

Picked this up locally a few weeks back - Oak Technology VGA card. I still have my 286 motherboard from decades ago. Might use this to rebuild that machine.

Oak video cards are really slow. Even trident cards are faster

Seeing how slow it is, I think it will actually slow down your 286. It's already slowing down my 386SX, so I think the same will happen to a 286

My money is on a P166MMX with an S3 Trio VGA and an ES1868 sound card. Anytime I get one of these, that's what turns up inside. Have yet to end up with an SS7, K6, P5, etc.

I had this exact conversation in my head while driving to work this morning when I first read your pickup post. So funny.

I received a few things in the mail yesterday late in the afternoon so I didn't have time to clean and share. I got two boring 256MB SDRAM sticks, then there were these two:

med_gallery_60983_11505_152340.jpg
An MSI 694T Tualatin/ISA board. I was planning on doing my Tualatin build with a GA-6OXT but now that I have an ISA board that will change the plans. Now that I've had time to examine the board, I saw that it actually has a VIA 686B southbridge, that means it has SB Pro compatibility in DOS without need of any drivers, no? Two of the capacitors near the power socket are swollen and need to be replaced, though. I think I stumbled on a great board.

med_gallery_60983_11505_500215.jpg
This, I don't know why I got it, but it was essentially a free pack in with the other stuff. Never saw something of the kind before, I could probably use it in my K6-2 400 system alongside the Voodoo 2 SLI if I find a SCSI HDD some day.

Nice board! You do need the sound drivers, but they're pretty painless to get set up.
