No pictures yet, but as I was walking out of a pawn shop, I spotted a 1st-generation Roland MT-32 for $35 and bought it. The box is a bit beat-up, but it works and sounds terrific. I've now got all the Roland boxes I ever needed: the CM-64, the CM-300, and now, a 1st-generation MT-32.

Not me. I was going to bid on that one as soon as it was listed but changed my mind.

To be SLI'd with a Creative 12MB V2

As you can see, it includes the SLI cable, and that lovely fat pass-thru cable. 😀

With all the nice stuff being posted here lately i have to admit i felt a bit jelly sometimes. 🤣

Hopefully i can bite back with this latest grab of mine. A genuine and complete Tandy 1000 TX system with that nice CM-5 tandy monitor.
The TX is interesting as it is kind of an Hybrid XT-AT machine. It has a 286 class cpu but operates over a 8 bit data bus and overall XT architecture. I feel like its quite unique, and really a looker Imo.

Got it "AS IS" for pretty much the steal. Its quite dusty, obviously spent a good deal of time forgotten in a basement. I powered it and it posts fine and asks for a system disk. Ill clean the thing good before i try to insert disks in it. very happy with this one 😁

Hmm, don't the later Tandy machines have DOS in ROM?

I know my RL does.

I was expecting it to have DOS in ROM but apparently it does not. Unless it's been deactivated somehow? Ill have to investigate.

EDIT : Well the TX apparently came with a HDD, but from what i gathered the Tandy TX hard drives pretty much all died since then. Probably what has happened with my machine. Maybe i can replace it.

One of my friends has a 1000TX. It's a nifty system but by standards of it's day, it was already outdated. It's odd they'd bother putting a 286 into the thing as the motherboard is 8-bit XT architecture. I suppose it's still an upgrade though for a home user moving up from an Apple II or Commodore 64 or one of the many Z80 based computers from the day.

On the models that included a hard drive, it was in the form of a hard card. Only some models of the 1000 had DOS built into ROM; I don't think the TX is one of those models.
